Today we’re going to a friend’s house and I wanted to make a punch that takes the best parts of fall, without going over the top and making it a “Christmas” punch. I kept the base equal parts cider and ginger ale, and I am ashamed to admit that I am using Fireball as my cinnamon spiker and not something that I made myself (please try the recipe before you judge me too harshly!). The punch turned out pretty tame and mild, which is what I was shooting for – nothing too crazy and the fireball wasn’t out of control.
I’m using the Raleigh Rum Company’s spiced rum for this recipe, it’s not too dark of a rum and has a lot of nice cinnamon and vanilla notes that are perfect for mixing.
To make a single serving, here’s the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz Raleigh Rum Company spiced rum
- 3 oz apple cider
- 3 oz ginger ale
- 1/4 Fireball (just a splash really)
- 1-2 dashes of Angostura bitters
Mix everything together over ice, stir it up well, pour into your preferred punch glass, and garnish with apple (and in this picture, a Luxardo cherry).
You can try this recipe out, or leave me a comment with your favorite cider and punch recipes. I’m always on the lookout to try something new!
