I’ve been on a coffee kick, thanks to Durham Distillery’s Damn Fine Coffee Liqueur, so I’ve been finding more and more great cold coffee drinks. This one is relatively new, sometime in the last few decades, attributed to Jon Santer, of the Prizefighter bar. Of course I had to experiment a little bit with it, and this version turned out delightfully drinkable without being overwhelmed by the aromatics. Honestly, this is a simple drink to make, and you should probably just go ahead and make it right now.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz Larceny Bourbon (one of my favorites!)
- 1/2 oz Durham Distillery Damn Fine Coffee Liqueur
- 2 dashes Hella Orange bitters
- 1 dash Crude “Big Bear” coffee and cocoa bitters
That’s it! I’ve been told that this is like a “coffee manhattan”, but I think it’s kind of in a category all by itself. It is probably a good base to start with for other coffee-inspired cocktails. What do you think?
