Cocktail: The Spiced Negroni

Everyone loves the Negroni, but sometimes you just need a little more kick in your drink. This version takes the flavor up a notch with the spicey Punt E Mes and bitters, to make this the perfect drink to usher in those cooler fall days.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Sutler’s gin
  • 1 oz Punt E Mes
  • 1 oz Campari
  • Crude “Pooter” bitters
  • Two rosemary sprigs

-Start off by muddling a sprig of rosemary. I usually prepare a negroni in a mixing glass or right in the serving glass, depending on the size of the drink. Because this requires some muddling you’ll have to prepare it in a mixing glass or shaker cup instead.

-Add your equal parts gin, Punt E Mes, and Campari.

-Add two dashes (or droppers) of Crude “Pooter” bitters. These bitters have a great smokey flavor that instantly add character to whatever drink you’re using them in.

-Double strain into a rocks glass over ice. I prefer to use a single large ice cube in all my Negronis.

-Garnish with a peel of clementine orange and a sprig of fresh rosemary.
