I just can’t stop using this delicious mezcal in all sorts of variations. Since this is my first time experimenting I’ve been on the lookout for new variations to classic drinks that I can update with a mezcal twist. This fits the bill perfectly, it keeps the minty flavors of a julep while getting the earthy kick from the mezcal. This is obviously not a replacement for the derby favorite, but it sure will be refreshing to add to the summer bill of drinks!
Ingredients:
- 1 oz simple syrup (or a sugar cube and a splash of water)
- 1 oz Larceny Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Mexcal Vago Elote
- 1 sprig of mint
Combine the simple syrup and mint in a shaker and muddle. Add the bourbon and mezcal, and shake with ice. Strain over crushed ice and garnish with a mint leaf.
